Do you want to change it permanently or just hide it? The IP address you have doesn't need to be changed for you to be protected while online. You can always hide your IP while you are surfing via a proxy server. I prefer to do it this way that way I don't have to concern myself with whether or not my IP has changed or whatever. I know it is hidden and different regardless, and I also know that I won't be tracked. Your IP is like your identifier while on the internet. Whatever you do is tracked back to the IP and slowly a profile can be built about your interests, likes, etc etc.



Like I said I just prefer to hide mine. I use a software-based proxy which hides my IP and refreshes the ';new'; IP every 30 minutes. It also encrypts all the data being sent so no one can snoop (or sniff, I don't know the exact ';techie'; term) your information. It has some other cool features and I actually found out about it on Y! Answers so I thought I'd spread the love.How to change ip adress?
Your Internet IP address is assigned by your ISP. Turn off your modem, wait 1/2 an hour, turn it back on. The ISP will assign you the next IP address available (it may be your old one. but chances are it won't be)
