Well I follow the guides step by step.

Open run, cmd, ipconfig/release, right click on lan, properties, type a random IP, ok, ok, lan properties then use the auto IP thing and press OK twice. When I do that all it does is cut my connection for a minute but it doesn't change it, can anyone help? How to change IP? 20charsneededtopost?
Right click the blinking computer monitors in the tray of your start menu and click on 'open network connections'.

Right click on Local Area Connection and click 'Disable'.

Wait a few seconds then right click it again and hit 'Enable'.

All of your IP information should renew via DHCPHow to change IP? 20charsneededtopost?
the ip that appear in your internet connection is not the real IP that is appear online

look at this site and compare the IP there with your connection IP

to change your IP that appears in this website

you should restart your DSL router ( if you have it)

and after that check the website and you will find that your IP has changed

if you use fax modem , disconnect the cable from it and again plug it and you will have ip changed

enjoy
The reason that it gives back the same IP is because the router keeps a file of MAC to IP associations. When you renew your address the router gives you back the same address that you were previously using if it is available. You can clear this by rebooting the router and then reconnecting your PC to the router. You may still get the same address though if it is the first address in the range.

The real question is why do you care what the address is? If everything is working ok then the address should be irrelevant to you.

If you want a specific address for some reason you can statically assign the address that you want and use it permanently.
