How to change ip adress in windows xp ??

i tried going to run %26gt; ipconfing reset %26gt; ipconfig renew etc etc but it did not change the IP address

then i tried going to internet connection %26gt; LAN %26gt; properties and i changed it to a random number...this worked and IP address was changed...however this turned off my internet,it would not get me online (it kept saying page cannot be displayed) even though local area network said that the internet was connectedHow to change ip adress in windows xp ??
You never gave details! If you have server or router and it uses DHCP, so the IP is assigned from it. If it uses manual, so you can change your IP address, but make sure in the same subnet with the server or routerHow to change ip adress in windows xp ??
That does not change you're IP it changes you're MAC Address so you are better off just getting a proxy.
The procedure to change IP address is in this way...

goto start -%26gt; Control Panel -%26gt;Network Connections -%26gt; Local Area Connection -%26gt; Right click on that and select Properties and then select TCP/IP and click on Properties again. and there you select the option of assign IP address manually and enter the DNS SERVER values of your Local ISP ...

call your local ISP and ask the preferred DNS and alternate DNS server values..

and then click on apply and ok and restart your modem/router and then am sure your internet also works..

The other way is just do the same procedure for assigning Ip address but instead of assigning IP address manually select the option Assign IP address automatically and make sure your LAN Settings in Internet Options is unchecked...

I mean goto IE -%26gt; tools -%26gt; Internet Options -%26gt; select tab Connections and then LAN Settings and see if the proxy checkbox is selected or not.. If it is selected uncheck the box and now try it...

Is it ok my friend??
