I suspect if you power off your computer and restart it a few minutes later, you would have received a different IP address. But, really why do you care about the IP??I need to know how can i change ip address of any computer any software for that ?
using xp?

double click your network connection

see properties for tcp/ip protocol, you can change your ip configuration there..
Changing the IP address of a machine using Windows Operating System is really easy. All you have to do is to:

?Open the Start Menu

?View items of the ';Settings'; sub-menu.

?Choose Network Connections.

?Right click on the Network Connection for which you want to assign a new IP address.

?Click on Properties after having right clicked on the connection.

?On top of the window, you should see a Tab called ';Networking';, click on that.

?In the center of the screen, you should see a list with items like ';Network Monitor Drive'; and etc. In the list, you should see an item called ';Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)';. Double click on that item.

?Now you can change your IP address.
If you typed Ipconfig\ release and nothing changed I suspect your getting your ip address from a DHCP server the ip lease is usually good for seven days that's why you didn't see any changes.

Your error message also causes me to believe that either you're nic is not setup properly or you do not have admin rights.
