Is it possible to change IP address?

When surfing in net, i have read a discussion on iP address. They were discussing about changing the iP address. Is it possible. If so how to do that. Whats the use.Is it possible to change IP address?
You can't change it without a dynamic ip but you can mask it. I use tor and find it's the best.Is it possible to change IP address?
Most people want to change their IP to get around a block on the one they are using. Usually people who are up no good, or are trying to get something for free that others have to pay for!
Why not ?

Try using web proxy like

There are 2 potential IP addresses you could ';change';

1) The IP address of your computer on your local network. This can be changed by updating your IP settings in your network control panel. If you are using DHCP, you can just ask to refresh the IP (or restart your PC).

2) The IP address of your internet router/your IP on the internet. This is likely what is being referred to. Depending on your connection, this would either be a dynamic IP assigned by your internet service provider (Comcast, AT%26amp;T, etc.) or a fixed IP. If dynamic, you can change your IP by restarting you DSL or cable modem. If fixed IP, you'd have to contact your service provider to change.

The use of this would be to re-classify yourself with respect to web sites that use IP address to track your behavior, block you, etc.
hello dude ,

I.P. address is like ur finger print and can you change your finger print.

welllllllllll.
There are two types of IP's

1. Static (which can't be changed, allocated by ISP)

2. Dynamic(changes every time you restart your modem or reconnect )

If you have Static IP then it can't be changed directly. You have to use different proxy sites.

If you have a dynamic IP then it can be changed very easily.Just restart ur Modem and ur IP is changed..

Now how to know whether ur IP is Static or Dynamic, its very simple..

First open site

http://whatismyipaddress.com/

There check ur IP and note it down....

Then restart ur Modem ... and after reconnecting again open that page and again check the IP address......

If it's SAME then it is STATIC

If it is different then it is DYNAMIC

Also if you don't have a Modem and have direct LAN connection(through LAN cable like Sify broadband) then ur IP is Static.
it depends on your connection. if you have a DSL dynamic, you can change ip via your router. if you have DSL static you can't. You can check it here http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/how-do-I-change-my-ip-address.
