I use wireless internet on a laptop. I tried using the commands on CMD which are ';ipconfig/release'; then ';ipconfig/renew';. Didn't work, I have still the same IP and it gave me a few errors. Please, anything to get that old IP changed.How to change IP address?
Your DHCP server is providing you your IP address and since your laptop is registered with client identification in the DHCP server's cache memory it will continuously offer it the same address.

You have two ways around this:

1. Set your laptop adapter's address to static using all of the same information the DHCP server provides, except changing the last octet of the IP address.

2. Change the address range your DHCP server works from.How to change IP address?
Step 1 To release and renew your IP address:

Go to ';Start %26gt; Run'; and type ';cmd'; (without quotation marks), then select ';OK';

Step 2 Type ';ipconfig /release'; (without quotation marks) and press ';Enter';

Step 3 Once the prompt returns, type ';ipconfig /renew'; (without quotation marks), then hit ';Enter,';

Step 4Last, type ';exit'; (without quotation marks) then press ';Enter'; to close the window.

Step 5Congrats, you now have a new IP address!

1. Maybe you have a static IP address if so, write it down before you try the following.

2. Press Start, Connect To, Show All Connections

3. Locate the icon for your wireless device, right click and select properties

4. Scrool down, till you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), hightlight this and click properties again

5. Be very very careful, if you see an IP address here, write it all down, then click the box for Obtain an IP address Automatically

then close all and reboot. This should let the system assign you an IP address.

IF you have a static IP address the the folks above have missed the mark. Static mean you have one typed in and you are not getting one from DCHP
