Reinstall Windows and it will look like a different computer. How to change ip address?
they have leases that will last about 2 months or so from the ISP. I think the only thing you could do is buy a new cable modem... you will get a new address at that point because it will have a new MAC address.

Good luck!
You can't, if he set the ban correctly. If the ban is set for your segment, not for your individual address, any address you get will be banned.

However, if your IP address is banned, and your brother is using the same internet account, his address (which is always the same as yours) is also banned. So if he's still on, it's not your address that's banned.

(Try just emailing the administrator. If you don't have the address, post the forum address here - someone can go there and get an email address for you.)

  • How do I change my IP on cable modem?

I used to go on a forum religiously, but somehow my IP was blocked. How do I change my IP? I have Comast cable internet, and I connect through a router. I searched other question and they said that you IP changes every week or so. But I tracked my editing on Wikipedia, and my IP hasn't changed since June of 2008.How do I change my IP on cable modem?
Your IP provided by your ISP is dynamic, which changes frequently. The IP that your are talking about was provided by your router. I would just goto the site via a proxy.

An IP address is a unique number that identifies each computer on the network or assigned by your ISP.

    Example 216.27.61.137

    Computer reads it like:

The number that you see is is decimal form (form we can read)

The computer reads this number in binary (machine code)

    So 11011000.00011011.00111101.10001001

There is two types of IP's, one assigned by the ISP and one assigned by the router.

The ISP, or internet service provider, lends out the IP per customer.

So your house has an IP, the library has an IP and a school has its own unique IP.

Then there is an IP that is leased out to you by a router. It is used to define all the nodes (peripherals) on the router.

So your ISP IP might be 70.456.....

But you router IP might be 192.168...

How to call Comcast for static IP change?

I will be calling Comcast this week. What I would like to know is what is the thing called that I need to ask for them to know what I am talking about? How much will the whole thing cost? And will they be able to change it to an IP that I personally need?

What are somethings that they might ask me for information and things that I should be aware of?How to call Comcast for static IP change?
First of all, you obviously have been told that you need a static IP by somebody. This might be because of a security issue: In order for you to login to a remote network somehere, you need to always have the same IP address and they will open the firewall for your machine to get access.

The other reason is that a remote user somewhere (perhaps a tech support person) needs to be able to access your machine remotely and this is infinitely easier if you always have the same IP address.

If you don't have a static IP, Comcast will give you a dynamic IP instead - one that changes every day or so. Since it changes regularly, the applications I mentioned above simply won't work.

When you call Comcast, you simply have to ask for exactly what you told us. Tell them that you want to change to a static IP address for your connection. They'll probably charge you about $10/month more. They will call you when it's in place and they'll tell you what the new IP address is. Don't be surprised if it takes a week before they get all the paperwork in place. How to call Comcast for static IP change?
If you have a Business Account with comcast, or open one, it will be just a matter of calling.

If not, you will just need to explain what you want to the First person you talk to, then again when they transfer you, and then one last time, maybe.

    Comcast Communications Technician
When you know what you are talking about, come on back and ask a question. Right now, I do not have a clue as to how to answer you.

Would unplugging my modem change my ip?

using Cox communications as the service provider

would unplugging the modem for about 30 minutes change the ip

or does it matter how long you do it,im trying to avoid hackers,i they are using remote viewing or something and screwing with my comp

changing ip would help.and my computer runs to a router then modem not directly to modem,i also have them trying to find out where i live, can they find out where i live with my ipWould unplugging my modem change my ip?
go into your command prompt and type:

    ipconfig /release (press enter)

    ipconfig /renew (press enter)

although, changing your IP address will probably not solve your problem. Get software for protection. ie. antivirus, antispyware, antiadware, norton ghost, etc.Would unplugging my modem change my ip?
I'm not familiar with Cox, but it sounds like they are a cable provider. Cable providers assign IP addresses by DHCP. DHCP issues leased IP addresses and the least time is configurable by the provider, so the length of time that you would need to unplug or disconnect from the network depends on how long they have this time set to. Also, if you turn your modem back on and it may ask for the same IP that it had before. If it is available still and has not been issued to some one else, you will get the same IP.

If you machine is behind a router and you have not specifically done any inbound port mapping on the router, then it can not be contacted from the internet. If you have set some inbound mappings, then turn them off and your machine is safe.

IP's are registered to specific providers and someone can use the registrar information to get general information as to where your computer is located. They might be able to find out what city you live in, but nothing more specific than that (without the collaboration of your internet provider) and this information is not always 100% accurate. For example, my internet provider buys IP addresses from one located in Montreal, QC. I am not even living in that province, but if you look up my IP, it appears that this is where my computer is.
    It will not.
Unfortunately unplugging a modem would not change an Ip address. Otherwise Computer hackers would have a very hard time getting access to computers (if everyone knew that).

You Ip address is based on location so yes, a very professional computer hacker could trace your Ip address to your home. (doing so would of course be illegal)

However no website is permitted to distribute any Ip to Home location information.

Such information is reserved for Police.

If you would like to eliminate your computer from being compromised from another person I suggest un plugging your ethernet cord or disconnecting your computer (via wireless or wired) from all Networks even when your computer is turned off hackers are still able to access it if it is uses a wired connection.

And while you are using the internet Use virus protection programs like McAfee.

    Hope this helps.

something that would automatically change my ip address?

if so where can i get it? thanks in advancedHow to change ip address?
All you gotta do is change it! You will be so invisible that your ISP wont be able to connect you! Even if you could, it wouldnt make a diff if someone wanted to find you. They trace you back to your ISP. If you have broken the law, your ISP then gives them your name and address. As for not being found, there are methods but even then you CAN be caught.

You never gave details! If you have server or router and it uses DHCP, so the IP is assigned from it. If it uses manual, so you can change your IP address, but make sure in the same subnet with the server or routerHow to change ip adress in windows xp ??
That does not change you're IP it changes you're MAC Address so you are better off just getting a proxy.
The procedure to change IP address is in this way...

goto start -%26gt; Control Panel -%26gt;Network Connections -%26gt; Local Area Connection -%26gt; Right click on that and select Properties and then select TCP/IP and click on Properties again. and there you select the option of assign IP address manually and enter the DNS SERVER values of your Local ISP ...

call your local ISP and ask the preferred DNS and alternate DNS server values..

and then click on apply and ok and restart your modem/router and then am sure your internet also works..

The other way is just do the same procedure for assigning Ip address but instead of assigning IP address manually select the option Assign IP address automatically and make sure your LAN Settings in Internet Options is unchecked...

I mean goto IE -%26gt; tools -%26gt; Internet Options -%26gt; select tab Connections and then LAN Settings and see if the proxy checkbox is selected or not.. If it is selected uncheck the box and now try it...

    Is it ok my friend??

you can change your external ip by leaving your internet modem unplugged for about 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depends on your internet provider. You may evne have to do this over night.
    go to control panel,

    open network connection

right click on local area connection

    then click properties

    click on TCP/IP, select properties

    Change your IP Address
    Ok

Start%26gt; connect to%26gt; show all connections right click your network and click properties. Under the tab general find ';internet Protocol'; in the list and click properties.

You can now type in ur own ip address!!

Just browse to the site you want to go to and this will disguise your IP address. Another site that works:

Btw, I proxy a lot to get past filters at school to get to myspace and facebook etc., and these two sites work the best for me.
Are you talking about internal to your network? Or external to the world?

If external, and you have a cable/DSL connection, you'll have to ask your provider if you can get a new IP. I know at that I've had the same IP address for over a year at one point before I was renumbered.

If internal, you can have your machines have static IPs as long as it's configured properly to get outside when needed, or change the config in your router to modify the ranges given out.

Only your ISP can change your IP address. I'm assuming that there's a reason you want to do this. If you think that you're being attacked or the subject of malicious activity, I can assure that you nearly every machine ont he internet is. My own testing shows that it takes somewhere less than 3 minutes of bringing up a new machine before it's under attack. Your best bet is to install a firewall, like http://www.smoothwall.com which will run on just about anything you can get (including a 486) that's spare hardware.

If you think you've already been hacked, here's how to unhack yourself. Start at the top of this list. Install the products one at a time. After you install each one, be sure to install all of their updates. Have each one complete a full scan before proceeding to the next one. One of these *should* fix your problem. Work down the list until your problem disappears. Keep in mind that everyone of these things is either free of charge or open source. That also means that the updates are free. Running the software with out the updates is the same as not running it at all. In addition to anti-virus software, you should also have anti-spyware software.

You should use more than one anti-spyware package because there is no one spyware package that will detect everything. Each one will pick up things that the others miss. Part of this is based on what gets submitted to the people who make the software which in turn is based on what the users encounter. There are so many that its hard to create a comprehensive list of everything out there that spies on you.

When you're done, be sure to go to Windows Update and apply ALL of the patches. Don't just run the ';Express'; updates. Run ';Custom'; and pick all of the software that's available to you. It make take several times before you no longer have patches. Once that's done, be sure to turn on your automatic updates. For Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525. For Vista - http://www.microsoft.com/protect/compute

Make sure that you're not running a cracked version of Windows or other software packages. Software doesn't get cracked for the benefit of humanity. It gets cracked because a hacker somewhere wants you run his software on your computer. That means he can use your computer to serve porn and send spam. Or capture your user names and passwords for identity theft.

Ahmad kuwaitHello am working with 25 computer in net work and I gave every one IP Address want program know who change IP?
Make your computer the DHCP server and let other obtain IP automatically. Why woud you want to bother assigning individual IPaddresses. That doesnt make sense if you have mor than 5 PCs in the network!!Hello am working with 25 computer in net work and I gave every one IP Address want program know who change IP?
well i dont remember the exact program name at the momoent but i know there is one you can try to look it up at download.com under networking or something
Sounds like you need a Router/Firewall. Basically your Internet connection goes into the router/firewall and the router will connect to a switch/hub that will then connect to every computer in your network.

Your Internet provider will give a live IP address to your router/firewall, and the router/firewall will use DHCP to give a private IP Address to the switch and all the computers on your network.

Something like a Linksys Router/Firewall would work just fine.

Change IP for a website typed in explorer?

I know you can change the logical address for a website when I type it in my browser, but I can't figure out how. I was told in the system file go to drivers then etc, but I don't know what to do trom there. My roommate always goes to this website on my computer, and I want to play a joke on him, so when he types in www.abc123.com he goes somewhere else. Also, how can I find a websites ip address, so I can change itChange IP for a website typed in explorer?
Do a /whois or whois.com icaan.com or somesuch thing can give anybody tghe numerics of a website, but what your talking about is hacking, and thats pretty close to cracking, cracking is ilegal. People go to prison for that. One mistype and its Hello Prison, Goodbye World.

It sounds funny, kinda, I would kik your tail in if you messed up my PC, but thats me.

Also thats a very good way to attract hackers to your box. Some hackers, alot, most all are kewl, but some are EVIL, they gots da debil in em and they give a bad name to those of us that like tgo see how stuff works so that we can make it work better.Change IP for a website typed in explorer?
    pretty cool stuff.

go to www.whois.net, and type in the web address.
Why does the roommate use YOUR computer?

Could it be that they are doing something, they don't want to be caught for? Your computer, YOUR blame!!

A better idea is ';lock'; the keyboard, then they can't do anything at all!

Why does my wifi router keep changing Ip address?

i cant afford having my ip address change all the time.

i do many things with external devices that hook up to a certain IP address..

anyone knows how to keep my ip address stable. Why does my wifi router keep changing Ip address?
Go into your router setup and look for an option called ';static reservation';. What this does is lets you lock the IP address for one or all of ';your'; external devices. It has nothing to do with your ISP assigning you an IP by DHCP. It's that your router is assigning different IP's to your Xbox, printer, PS3, or whatever. You can reserve an IP for each device, so that device's IP never changes. Why does my wifi router keep changing Ip address?
That's the nature of DHCP. If you don't like it, pay your ISP for a static address (if they offer it).

Otherwise, forget using IP addresses %26amp; sign up with a dynamic DNS service and use DNS names instead.
Subscribe to a STATIC IP address from your ISP.

Or register a domain name and subscribe to Dynamic DNS.

Contact your Internet Provider and ask if it can be changed back, and they might make it a static IP so it will stay the same.
What Ann said. That would be the only way to change it back. Im not sure they will do it though. It may have been reassigned to another user already.

    How to change FIOS IP?

I have asked very same question about 2 weeks ago, however because didn't received any answer to my satisfaction I decided to post it again: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnKs4UZgRZ4gLvDNZp28.Z9IzKIX?qid=20070620192607AAGwPPt

See link above for more detail explanation. Referring to previous answers: 1) Verizon's techs were of no help (my impression is they simply don't know), already tried them before posting first time 2) I feel that having static or semi-static IP is simply not safe!!! While chatting (as on Yahoo chat), sending e-mails, visiting web sites etc etc it is easily possible or to be more precise even very likely (IMO), that IP will eventually end up in not desired hands - as local chat trolls for instance. Once IP ends in bad hands, it is possible to perform number of attacks and with little dose of luck, patience and knowledge hack someones PC or router. Ability to quickly change IP (when in need) is in my opinion ';a must'; for any security conscious personHow to change FIOS IP?
OK I have read you last posting and had answered it correctly but here is the straight truth.. There is only two way to change your DHCP assigned IP address through Verizon.

when the router is powered up... it looks for a dhcp server and asks it for an IP. this IP is leased to the router for 24hrs and unless there is a break in the connection will continue to renew this lease i.e you will continue to have the same ip.

    so your options are

    a) Call the tech support 1-888-553-1555 and ask for a break dhcp lease.....

    b) turn you router off fo 24hrs and let the lease expire. and when you turn on the router you'll get another IP address.

NOTE: with both of these actions ther is no guarentee of a different IP address the odd are high that you will but ';could'; occur...

now if you find another provider that allows you to change IP on the fly go with them....right or wrong 99.99% of all DHCP servers in the business world operate like this. ';secuirty conscious'; folks know this and have firewalls and other networking tools to prevent all those nasty things you mentioned above...

there are things that are controllable and uncontrollable....

now you can re-post this as many times as you want but the truth will not change that's just how it works...How to change FIOS IP?
From what I've seen and read, you get a dynamic IP from a pool each time you connect. But yes its possible to get the same IP from time to time even when you turn your computer off at night.

If you don't like the IP you have, disconnect your router at http://192.168.0.1 and then connect again.

Some FIOS techs are great in the field and some are in training on the phone support. They're connecting hundereds a day nationwide, so one day they'll learn the ropes.

For me FIOS is just the best ISP out there hands down.

method of changing your IP address would be to use a proxy server, which is basically a server that re-routes your Internet traffic. If it's an ';anonymous'; proxy server, websites will only see the IP address of the server and not yours. One advantage of a good anonymous proxy is that it not only changes your apparent IP address, but also changes the geographic location of your IP address to that of the server.

To find some proxy server settings, do a Google search for something like ';free proxy list'; and you'll find a bunch of sites listing IP addresses along with port numbers. To use these settings, you'll need to configure your browser, and most of those website will probably have instructions for doing so. However, before you delve too deeply into public proxy servers, be aware of the drawbacks and risks:

    * Free and working proxy servers are very hard to find due to overuse and abuse. Even those that you do find may disappear after a couple minutes.

    * ';Public proxy servers'; may not be truly public. Some open proxies are only open because of a careless configuration, or they could possibly be open because a hacker or a virus opened ports on the server without the owners knowledge. This could lead to legal issues about using the server without permission.

    * Because proxy servers re-route your Internet data, the server operators have access to your data, which creates a perfect way for criminals to steal passwords. This is made easier by the fact that it's almost impossible to find proxies that support SSL (secure connection).

    Step

2We'll start with the most obvious ways to change your IP address, which would include logging onto the Internet from a location other than your current one. You could use your laptop at an Internet cafe or a public library that offers free Wifi. That's a simple way to change your IP, but a bit inconvenient. Another easy way to change your IP address would apply if you have a dialup ISP. Simply redialing, or dialing up through a different access number, will almost always give you a new IP address.

Also in the ';obvious'; category would be the fee-based services that simplify the process of changing your IP address, such as iPrivacyTools.com ( http://www.iprivacytools.com ).

    Step

3This section applies to users on broadband cable or DSL connections. I've heard that some ISP's will issue a new IP address after you simply turn your modem off for a few hours or overnight. However, that has never worked for me, and it's quite inconvenient as well. Give it a try if you wish, but there is definitely a better way. Start by first turning off your modem. If you're using a router, disconnect it and plug your computer directly into the modem. This process is possible with a router, but with so many different configurations, eliminating the router for few minutes will simplify things.

    * Turn you're modem back on, and when you have a connection go to a site like http://www.findmyipaddress.com

    * Make a note of your current IP address. This way you'll know whether or not it has changed when we're done.

    * Now, go to your START menu -%26gt; click ';Run'; -%26gt; type ';cmd'; into the box -%26gt; and hit ';OK';.

    * At the prompt type ';ipconfig /release'; and then hit ';Enter'; (note the space after ';ipconfig';).

    * Now go back to your START menu -%26gt; go to ';Connect To'; -%26gt; click ';Show all connections';.

    * Right click on the LAN or ';Local Area Connection'; icon and click ';Properties';.

    * Highlight ';Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'; and click ';Properties';.

    * Check ';Use the following IP address'; and enter a bunch of 1's for the ';IP address';, and 255.0.0.0 for ';Subnet mask';.

    * Click ';OK'; and then ';Close'; to exit the dialog box.

    * Now, wait a minute or so for your connection to refresh.

    * Follow the same process as above to go back to the previous dialog box where you entered the IP address.

    * This time check the box for ';obtain an IP address automatically';.

    * Then click ';OK'; and ';Close'; to get out of there.

Finally, go back to your browser and click Refresh to see if your IP has changed. Hopefully it has! If this didn't work for you, contact your ISP directly and ask them the process for obtaining a new IP address on their service.

    Step

4Another method of changing your IP address would be to use a proxy server, which is basically a server that re-routes your Internet traffic.

Those are just some of the major issues when trying to change your IP address via the proxy server method. If you're still interested, you'll find a plethora of information about open proxies with a simple web search, but hopefully these warning are enough to steer you to the methods discussed above.

    Change ip address on linksys?

ok so the thing is i have a network and every time i connect

a computer to my isp cable modem i get new ip addresses

all the time, they always change like 77.38.99.12 then like

99.38.17.43 as an example but when i plug back the computers to the linksys router and plug the router in the

modem i get back my old ip address , anybody have a linksys

router and know how to do this? i tried the dhcp release stuff

and unplugging the modem while doing it.Change ip address on linksys?
hi mike, i was just reading up on some of your recent questions (i got best answer on one of them, which looks similar to this question).

z's answer is technically accurate, but it's not crystal clear what your question is.

if you want to know how to force your isp to give you a different [wan] ip address while you are using your linksys router, you need to change the media access control (mac) address on your router's wan interface. i've found some links that should help you, see below.

the mac address is how most dhcp servers are configured to distinguish different hosts.

if you want a different wan ip address, change the router's wan mac address, then power cycled your router and your cable modem. it may take several minutes to get a new ip address, but it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

my old isp used to require mac address registration. they no longer do. your isp probably does not, or else you never would have gotten an ip address when you hooked up different computers (with different mac addresses) to the cable modem. still, if you don't get an ip address within 10 minutes of changing the router's wan mac address (and power cycling the modem and the router), you may need to call your isp and give them the new wan mac address.

p.s. i would have answered your limewire question as follows if it were still open: as far as limewire packets coming in 20 minutes after you've closed limewire, this is perfectly normal, nothing to worry about. even if your firewall is allowing the packets, you have no application listening on that port (can be confirmed with netstat -an), so little or no security vulnerability.Change ip address on linksys?
not sure exactly what your question is but..

your ISP will assign you 1 IP such as the 2 you mentined above. When you plug your router in to your modem, your router will get that assigned IP. Then your router will do NAT (network address translation) and your PCs will get assigned a private IP such as 192.168.1.2 and so on. All those private IPs will gate translated to your 1 public IP assigned to your router. This is how you get multiple systems online with 1 connection / IP

    Can i change a PC's IP address?

Hi. i just bought a laptop off ebay.... im always wondering about ppl's past internet expieriences and wondered if there is a way that i can change the IP address of a computer or of there is a way to permantly delete all the crap that thye might have surfed of had on my computer.

any ideas or solutions onto how to change IP address or completly clear the entire pc?

    thanksCan i change a PC's IP address?
There would be no need to. The IP address that is important is the IP of their modem which the service provider provides. Most home networks assign the same set of IPs to the home computers. Can i change a PC's IP address?
Computers don't have a permanent IP address. You can statically assign an IP, but it is not permanent. Most of the time, DHCP is used and the computer requests an IP address.
The Ip address is set by your ISP so you can't change it. The best way to clean out an old computer is to buy a disk of the operating system then reformatting the computer. That will clean up all the old files and give you a completely fresh start
The computer is not going to have the same IP address as the previous owner. It will pick up a new IP from your service provider or from your router if you are using one.

Since you did not supply any details as to what type of laptop it is or operating system I'm going to assume it is running Windows (because I dont know much about Macs) and say that you can open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, and clear the history, empty temporary internet files and cookies.

    EDIT:

Also.. to those that are giving ';Thumbs Down'; to the answers... please grow up, i didnt give your answers a thumbs down for you to be retaliating.
Yes you can change the IP address of any computer. However, this does not remove anything they might have been done in the past. Completely unrelated.

What you should do is REFORMAT the hard drive and REINSTALL Windows (or whatever operating system you are running) using the System recovery disks that were included with the computer. This is the only way to verify that whatever the previous user did will not harm you in any way.

How can i change my ip address?

i want to change ip address to play a game from japanHow can i change my ip address?
    Hi,

Changing your IP address to a different location, such as another country, requires the use of a proxy service or VPN. There are many companies that do this, but you may have some trouble finding one that offers a connection through Japan. You might start by visiting http://www.iprivacytools.com and checking their current offerings to see if Japan is there, or do a google search for Japan proxy. Worst case scenario (if you really want to play this game) would be to rent your own small server in Japan an set it up as a proxy server. In this U.S. this can be done for as little as $15/month. But I'm not sure about server rental prices in Japan.

Good luck! How can i change my ip address?
You can change your ip address, but I dont know any way you can get to pick what it is. Follow the instructions on this page if you just want a different ip address.

    http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages
easiest way is to have a modem that offers you a dynamic ip, this changes every time you log on the net. otherwise it's pretty complicated to change your ip address, i can't remember exactly how to do it it's been so long since i had to change mine
Most people have no control over their IP address. It's set by their internet provider, and they change it, themselves, every so often.

You can mask your IP by setting up a proxy, but I don't think it'll actually allow you to change the IP.
Well, you ca change it, but even if is changed it will show that you are from japan. I would suggest using a proxy. Google it and you should find out how it done.

The network admins are very smart and will protect their network so any attempt to get past them will fail. You will have to go to a coffee shop once in awhile. In the meantime you are in that dorm to study. Do it.
If you could change your IP at the dorm, it would make no difference.

Apparently the System Administrator knows a lot more than you do. Probably he studied when he was a student. I suggest you study too.
Don't worry. 4chan's down right now, anyway.
I was just permabanned today, which doesn't make any sense because I JUST got home from school and saw that I was banned. Reason ';a spammer';. Again, no sense, since I don't ever really post o____O Luckily, I have a few internet connections floating around my house so I just connected to a different one. I'm still going to appeal the ban though because the other connection is slow.

If anything, buy a wireless router. Apparently multiple connections work (that's how I did it, as I just explained). But in the mean time, appeal it I guess.

How to get on a site that has blocked you changing IP didn't work?

I was told that if a site blocks you, and you don't think it should have you can change your IP address and then that should work. Well changed the IP address and it didn't. Now we tried it right away. Is there a time we should have waited between getting the new IP address and trying to get on to that site? How to get on a site that has blocked you changing IP didn't work?
You should wait until the ban expires, if it's not a permanent ban. Otherwise you should move on. You're assuming that you have some inherrent ';right'; to go to a particular aite. Unless you pay for it, you don't. Anyone can ban anyone for any reason (or no reason) at any time and for any time. Attempting to do anything to the site to evade the ban is actually illegal. (Changing your IP isn't illegal, it just shows that you don't understand IPs and how banning works.)

DALnet banned the entire nation of Myanmar at one time. And for months. And there was nothing anyone in Myanmar, even the government itself, could do about it. (There was a very valid reason for it.) Private property is still private property, and the property owner can admit anyone he or she wants to. (And ban anyone he or she wants to.)

Any one tell me how to change ip address in boardband modem in a simple way?

You cant change your IP address

If you are a residental user with a dynamic address you can attempt a releae and renew but if your IP Lease isnt expired you will only obtain the same IP from the pool.

To attempt click start -%26gt; run then type ';cmd'; and hit ok

In the block dos prompt type:

    ipconfig /all

(note the DHCP Lease peroid, it will show you when your lease expires, this is typically when you will get a new IP address)

You can attempt a release and renew, but 99.99% chance you'll get the same ip

    type: IPCONFIG/RELEASE

    then,

    IPCONFIG/RENEW

you could also try releasing your ip and letting it sit for a few hours, then renew after waiting (hiping someone else picked up your IP in the meantime thus giving you a new IP)

    I would try two things.

    1.

    ';Try this.

Here's how to do it in windows:

    1. Click Start

    2. Click run

    3. In the run box type cmd.exe and click OK

    4. When the command prompt opens type the following. ENTER after each new line.

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    exit';

If that doesn't work, unplug your computer from your DSL modem, unplug the modem, wait 5 minutes, then plug everything back together. Restart your computer.
Since you IP address is assigned by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) this very hard to do! About the only way is to use a Proxy Server. Your DHCP server is providing you your IP address and since your laptop is registered with client identification in the DHCP server's cache memory it will continuously offer it the same address.

You have two ways around this:

    1. Set your laptop adapter's address to static using all of the same information the DHCP server provides, except changing the last octet of the IP address.

    2. Change the address range your DHCP server works from. How to change IP address?

IF you have a static IP address the the folks above have missed the mark. Static mean you have one typed in and you are not getting one from DCHP

    How to change IP address?

Im using wireless network connection. I have tried ipconfig method using cmd.exe but not working. I have tried IP forcer too but no use. How can I change? PleaseHow to change IP address?
This is easy. Don't use those anonymous IP, Change IP, IPCONFIG or anything of that kind of software. It does not work. You have to do it at the hardware level. First, you need to have a router. Next, you have to log in to your router settings. I am using a D-Link DIR-300 wireless router. Since I have Dynamic IP, it only changes every 6days, so most of the 6 days, I am stuck with the same IP no matter how much I reset or turn off my modem, thus making my connection as Static ';temporary';.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to status and write down your IP address as indicated.

    2. Go to setup and go to ';Lan Setup';.

Change the DHCP lease time to 1minute. Save settings.

    3. Go to setup and click ';Manual Internet Connection Setup';.

    4. Go to Mac Address.

Kindly note that the IP address and the Mac address are interlinked. You cannot change the IP without changing the Mac. Now, simply go to the MAC address, then just change any of the values there. Don't over do it, if it states, F3, then change it to F5, B3, then B2 Simple.

    5. Save your settings.

    6. Go to status. You will notice that your IP is 0.0.0.0 and you can no longer connect to the internet.

    7. Logout of the router.

    8. Turn off both your router and the modem. Wait for 10 seconds, and turn it on again. Wait for windows to detect the IP. Will take some time, depending on your setup. For my setup, it took about 3-5mintues.

    9. Now log in again to your router and go to status. Now compare the IP address you have written down and the New IP. You should now have a different IP through the built in DHCP server of the Router.

Do this again, over and over again to change your IP anytime, anywhere, 24/7.

To test this, go to any chatroom through MIRC and get yourself banned by typing ';Hitler';. You need to enter this and do this again for 3 times. You'll get your IP address banned and you cannot log in anymore no matter you hard you try.

Now, use the simple hack I've taught you and log in again, you'll soon find that you are able to log in again as the server will detect a new IP assigned by your router.

Good luck! How to change IP address?
If you are using a wireless network connection, then most probably you are also using DHCP. The easiest way to overcome this is simply by going in to your network settings and making your changes as needed.

You will also need to make sure your IP is on the same subnet as your router.

In windows, control panel - network connections - right click and select properties on the adaptor you want to change. This will work for a wired connection.

If you are using wifi to connect to your router, then you could do it the same way if windows is handling the connection, otherwise you'll have to modify it in your helper application.
if you using dynamic ip then it changes everytime u not using the internet and when u logging on. if u have static then you basically have an unique ip. you can request to change it by contacting yr isp. but if you try to hack or sumit there always a way they can track you down. the best way is to make a bot. a zombie bot which can attack other pc without they knowing the oringinal programer
Unless your ISP supports dynamic IP, I don't think there is a simple way to changing your IP.

And to the person above me, unplugging and replugging does not change the IP address.
Disable the wireless connection and wait for some time before enabling it again. You should have a renewed IP if your ISP has DHCP
Your public IP address is supplied by your ISP through your dhcp. You can not change it, if you disconnect for a time it may change, but only if someone else has taken up your old IP. Any attempt to change it loses your connection and gives your ISP the right to terminate your service without notice, as it can disrupt other's use of the internet.
if you want to change your local network IP you can do it manually from the network connection settings in the control panel under TCP/IP of the network connection

ex: if your IP now is 192.168.0.14 change it to 192.168.0.x where x is any number under 255

if you want to change your public IP just turn the modem off and on again it'll reconnect and renew your public IP

I'm looking to change my IP address often. What's the best way to be able to change your IP address? How to change IP Address?
The only thing you can change in your IP address is the last octet and, if you're banned, that's usually ignored anyway, so changing your address won't help you. The only way to change your entire address is to get a different provider. (Most proxies are already banned, so using one won't help you either.)How to change IP Address?
Why would you need to change your ip address? doing something illegal?

use a proxy program otherwise unplug your modem for 3 days and you will most likely be assigned another ip address.

open up command prompt (if your a vista user then you have to right click it and click ';run as admin';) and type ipconfig /release and then it will disconnect you from internet and things and the type in ipconfig /renew

How can I change my IP address to unban myself from a maplestory private server?

So I just got banned a few hours ago for a REALLY stupid reason, so I want to keep playing in the server because I like it. So I looked for how to change IP's, and I did one that is a .bat file and it changes it I guess, but it still says im banned, and I changed it at least 5 times. Then I did this other think when you go to run, type ipconfig /release, then you click properties on your network, and click internet protocol, and make up your own ip, then press ok, then go to it again but press get me an IP automaticlly, but after that it said i was still banned also. Can someone help me? Thanks :DHow can I change my IP address to unban myself from a maplestory private server?

I assume that this is a computer game and that you are on high speed internet since you are talking about a online game. Keep in mind that on most highspeed internet setups the modem has the public ip address(one you need to change) and your computer which is behind the modem is given a local ip address. The public ip address on the modem is what you need to change. This is the ip address that was more then likely banned in some cases if the person that is banned really made people mad then the server admin will ban the entire ip range of an isp to make sure that the person does not come back on the server.

First off let me first say that even if you change your public ip address more then likely all they are going to do is ban then entire public ip range that your ISP uses. Which means that others in your area with your isp are not going to be able to play is going to end up banning anyone from your area. Your best bet is to wait a few days so that hopefully the admin will have cooled off( we do get mad when we have to ban people because it takes away from our playing time)

To change your public ip address...

First off go to a website like http://whatismyip.com/ so that you can see your public ip address. then ....Unplug the cable or dsl modem. Leave it unpluged for anywhere from 5 mins - an hour. It depends on the isp. When you plug it back in then go back to http://whatismyip.com/ and see if your ip address has changed. If it did not then leave the modem unplugged for an increasing amount of time. If you have left the modem unplugged a long period of time like say overnight and it does not change then you more then likely have a static account ...meaning that you wont be able to change your ip address.

Last but not least some games allow the server admin to ban not only by IP address but also by account name for computer games. Remember that serial number you had to enter when you installed the game well in many cases this is a unique identifier to the server and you can be banned by it.

So if after changing your ip address you are still not able to get on the server then its because he banned your account. How can I change my IP address to unban myself from a maplestory private server?

You can hide behind a proxy. As for your IP address you can not change, as it is given to you by your Internet Provider. Change IP and you will get a new IP address.

Minddoctor, FranceHow can i change ip address?
    reset your modem
of course.. to do it in an easy.. GOOD way you need to use something like the invisible ip map program.... it's the best i've seen so far.

    http://www.invisibleipmap.com/

you can delete your cookies and your internet history and everything right from your computer's internet options but i suggest something like ccleaner..

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

no worries.. it's free %26amp; effective.
If my thinking is correct, you can't change your ip address because that's pretty much provided by your internet service provider.

As for deleting cookies, if you're using Internet Explorer, go to Tools--%26gt;Options--%26gt;General--%26gt;Browsing History Settings--%26gt;Delete (Cookies)

To disable cookies, go to Tools--%26gt;options--%26gt;privacy--%26gt;advanced--%26gt;r?first-party AND reject third-party.

(one note. this may prevent you from accessing your gmail or facebook accounts or other sites which require cookies to be turned on. on the other hand, it prevents marketers from tracking all the sites that you visit)
it depends on your mode of ip addressing. if there is a DHCP server in your network, then you should clikc on ';start'; then click on ';run';. in the run window type ';cmd';. then in the opened window you should run the command ';ipconfig /renew';.

But if your mode of ip addressing is manual, you should right click on your network interface card at the left bottom corner of your screen (two small computers). then you choose ';status';. from the opened window choose ';properties';. in the opened window choose ';Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)';. then click on ';properties';. a window will be opened that enables you change your IP address
The ip address is given to you by your internet service provider.

When you change your co. you will have another ip address.

You need to change your IP for when you're banned from a game, your internet stops working, or you want to get rid of someone following you.

There is more than one way to change an IP.

The way that changes a couple of digits and can sometimes mess up your router/modem/network card:

Unplug the router and modem, wait 20 seconds, and replug.

The pluses to using the above way is that if your internet is off, this is the ONLY way to fix it usually.

I've recently found a new way for if you just want to change your IP. You should do this only if you need to, as there is no reason to do it unnecessarily:

First go to start and click on run. Type in cmd and click ok. Now type in ';ipconfig /release'; without quotations. Then hit enter. Now your internet is off. Type ';ipconfig /renew'; to turn it back on, with a fresh new IP and no damage to anything.

You could also download a program to change your IP. I've never tried the program way, but I know some that have. The programs usually give you the option to hide your IP too.

There are also other various ways to change an IP, but they normally take overnight. You can find a link to them in my source. The website in my source can also hide an IP, trace an IP, and tell you your IP. I use it for everything concerning my IP, and I think it can help you too.

Hope this helps! How do i change IP addresses? i would like too and im not sure how... thanks?
Are you on a wireless network or a shared network? If so, then your IP address is most likely dynamically assigned. Do you mean you want to change the IP address of your internet connection? To do this you need to login to your router and do a release/renew.
To change your IP address, try the free JonDo, which can be downloaded from:

    http://www.jondos.de/

or UltraSurf, which can be downloaded from:

    http://www.ultrareach.com/

Yes, using one of these programs is a good %26amp; trusted way to change your IP address.

Both of them are the best proxy / IP changer programs i've ever tried.

When to change your IP address:

    - when you want to appear as if you are someone else on the internet

    - when your IP is blocked from a site

    - when you want to browse anonymously

    - when internet filtering blocks the website you want to visit

    Hope this helps :D

    How to change ip.....?

I have 3 pc, and i have router, and the ip is the same for all the computers.

is there any way to change the ip in 1 pc?

The thing is, i have a really nice anime wallpapers site, HD.

I was a memeber long time ago, and i forgot my user name and my e-mail, and i can register only 1 time per ip in this site.

And anyway, i always wanted to know how i can change my ip adress, if it actually possible.

Thank you !How to change ip.....?
The IP that you want to change is called the Public IP Address, which you are paying for, from your Internet Service Provider (Comcast, Verizon, etc). That IP Address can change over time, but it can take a while. Depending on your ISP and the plan you selected, you may be able to change your IP Address, and in some cases, for a fee.How to change ip.....?
Just go register at a friends house or at the library.

Or even better send the website owner an email telling them the situation and ask if you can retrieve your user name and password.

It also wouldn't hurt to ask if an exception could be made. You might be told no but you might not.

Make clear you understand if the answer is no but you would like to know how this very common situation gets handled.
the ip is not the same for all the computers, but they share the same external ip (the router's ip)

i suggest turning off your cable modem/adsl for few hours then turn it on. normally your ISP should assign you a new ip automatically. unless you are using a static ip then you will have to use a proxy server.

    http://proxy.org
The public IP, the one given to you by your ISP, is a single IP only, and you cannot change it. A router allows the sharing of that one IP with many computers - that's what a router does. Without a router, you would have to buy additional IPs from your ISP, an expensive option. That's why people use routers.

If you want 2 or more public IPs, you have to buy them - they are a limited resource to the ISPs and they want to be paid for every one that is used. (you get one when you buy your service).

if you are using the modem only, from your internet service provider(ISP) you cant. the ip addy from the ISP is either set in stone or they will refresh your ip addy automaticly depending on the ISP. i have comcast and its set in stone. now if you have a router hooked up to the modem given to you by the ISP it is still the same. the ip addy that you are resetting if you follow cha_o_mac2001 answer will only work for the ip addy given to you from the router. the router gets its ip addy from the modem wich gets it from the ISP. all the router dose is takes that one ip addy from you ISP that your paying for and turns it into 100 ip addys so you can hook up all your computers at home to the internet without paying for more ip addys from your IPS.How to change ip address quick and easy on windows vista/windows 7000 and my router is model:3800HGV-B /at%26amp;?
You simply cannot. Your IP address is assigned by your ISP. You have no direct control over it.
Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.

    Click Run... on this menu.

If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.

Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).

If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.

Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
    1) Go to www.whatismyip.com and write down your IP on a piece of paper.

    2) Unplug Your modem (EVEN the ADSL line should be off).

    3) In MS Dos type: ipconfig/all

    4) Now in MS Dos type: ipconfig/release

    5) Now put your modem together.

    6) When you modem is connected it won't be connected to the internet.

    7) Now in MS Dos type: ipconfig/renew

    8) You should now be connected to the internet, with a new IP.

    9) Check your IP from www.whatismyip.com, and your IP should now be changed (That's why I told you to write your IP down in step 1, so you can check.)

    double click your network connection

see properties for tcp/ip protocol, you can change your ip configuration there..
Changing the IP address of a machine using Windows Operating System is really easy. All you have to do is to:

    ?Open the Start Menu

?View items of the ';Settings'; sub-menu.

    ?Choose Network Connections.

?Right click on the Network Connection for which you want to assign a new IP address.

?Click on Properties after having right clicked on the connection.

?On top of the window, you should see a Tab called ';Networking';, click on that.

?In the center of the screen, you should see a list with items like ';Network Monitor Drive'; and etc. In the list, you should see an item called ';Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)';. Double click on that item.

?Now you can change your IP address.
If you typed Ipconfig\ release and nothing changed I suspect your getting your ip address from a DHCP server the ip lease is usually good for seven days that's why you didn't see any changes.

Your error message also causes me to believe that either you're nic is not setup properly or you do not have admin rights.

    How to change FIOS IP?

After googling question it appears that most people has no problems with changing their IPs with theirs FIOS. According to posts I found all which is necessary is simply rebooting router. For some reason it doesn't works this way with my Verizon FIOS.. My configuration is: OPT %26gt;coax%26gt; Actiontec router%26gt;ethernet cable%26gt;%26gt;Vonage wireless router %26gt;%26gt; laptop wireless + desktop connected with Ethernet cable. I tried both rebooting Actiontech router (IP didn't changed) and setting different MAC with ';MAC clone'; on Actiontech (couldn't connect to Internet at all). What am I missing? How do I change my IP? I feel ability to change IP is really issue of safety. How to change FIOS IP?
In reading your question. I'm finding it hard to nunderstand it.. are you talking about the ip adressing scheme inside you network... or the ip address the router gets from verizon...

Unless your paying for a static IP addres...The router works similiarly to a computer in the role of using DHCP... you'll never get to choose our ip address.

I guess the real question that needs to be asked...why is it so important to have your IP adress change???? for the sake of doing so???

If it's not broke don't mess with it.....

    If your heart is really set on having your IP address changed. can the tech support folks and have them ';break dhcp lease';

You may get the same IP address back but that is about the only way (besides paying for an IP adress) of changing you IP address on the nerwork...but no gurantees how long you will ';keep' that address. with DHCP there is no ';static'; addresses and you will not be able to do a web hosting..

anywho hope this helpsHow to change FIOS IP?
I don't know the Verizon setup but it smells like they use the mac address of the thing as part of your rights to network. Then changing it takes you out of their realm, so to speak.

Might be stuck....or I misread this. The mac addy to change would be the router mac addy right before the cable/dsl modem.

  • How to change IP address easily? ?

Is there an easy to use program out there that can change your IP address for you? I'm trying to avoid being banned again on a forum I was banned on before for a ridiculous reason (all I do there is help other people until one miscue/misunderstanding). How to change IP address easily? ?
Are they banning your IP or your User? Your ip is generally assigned by your ISP. Most ISP use a dynamic IP addressing system. (i.e. everytime you boot your dsl/cable/dialup modem, you get a new and possibly different IP)How to change IP address easily? ?
You cannot change your IP address but there are some software that can hide your IP so you can surf anonymously. Just search for a free application on the internet. Just type the Key word IP server proxy something like that.

How to change IP address (comcast internet)?

Call comcast, but, i do not believe you will be able to. ~

    How to change ip adress?

Does anybody know how can I change my ip adress? How to change ip adress?
Do you want to change it permanently or just hide it? The IP address you have doesn't need to be changed for you to be protected while online. You can always hide your IP while you are surfing via a proxy server. I prefer to do it this way that way I don't have to concern myself with whether or not my IP has changed or whatever. I know it is hidden and different regardless, and I also know that I won't be tracked. Your IP is like your identifier while on the internet. Whatever you do is tracked back to the IP and slowly a profile can be built about your interests, likes, etc etc.

Like I said I just prefer to hide mine. I use a software-based proxy which hides my IP and refreshes the ';new'; IP every 30 minutes. It also encrypts all the data being sent so no one can snoop (or sniff, I don't know the exact ';techie'; term) your information. It has some other cool features and I actually found out about it on Y! Answers so I thought I'd spread the love. How to change ip adress?
Your Internet IP address is assigned by your ISP. Turn off your modem, wait 1/2 an hour, turn it back on. The ISP will assign you the next IP address available (it may be your old one. but chances are it won't be)

download ie7pro its a free download, one of the options is adding a proxy ip address.

you would need to find a good proxy site and use a Canadian ip just google free proxy list.

using a proxy can be hit and miss and does run very slow but it does work if you find a good fast proxy

How To Change IP Address On Optimum Online?

im an optimum online subscriber and im blocked on this one site for no real reason at first i thought the site was down but my friend was able to go on i was wondering if theres any known way of changing my ip addressHow To Change IP Address On Optimum Online?
The block is not on the ip, it uses various keys from your machine. Otherwise the whole pool of dynamic addresses would be blocked by now, they get changed so often. How To Change IP Address On Optimum Online?
If you have a dynamic IP, its very possible someone had the IP you have now and got banned, then the IPs changed and you got the banned one. It should eventually change sooner or later again, but that all depends when your internet provider's server decides to hand out new IPs, no way to really change that I'm afraid. You could email optimum online and ask about it, but not sure how willing they would be to remove a ban.

  • How To Change IP Address on a Mac?

Your IP address is assigned by your Internet Service Provider. If it's static, you won't be able to change it.

If it's dynamic, you might be able to.

If you have a static IP address, that means it's always the same when you connect.

No matter what, getting a new router or a new modem or a new anything else won't change it unless you change your Internet Service provider.

That speaks of your public IP address.

If you have a router, you can have lan side IP address which are unique to your router but they also have the need for NAT translation to allow you to get to the internet.

NAT transposes the IP Addresses in the inbound and outbound packets so they route to the correct computer on your side of the router but on the Internet side of the router, they carry your public IP address.

The problem with router side IP addresses is that they don't route over the internet. They are in a reserved range.

    Back to your original question.

Check this link out, it may give you some help.

In addition to the above ways to get a new IP address, you are allowed to assign static IP addresses with your router if you have one.

Getting a new router while having the same ISP will not necessarily get you a new public IP address unless your ISP allows you to have dynamic IP addresses.

Good luckHow To Change IP Address on a Mac?
there are only 3 ways to change an ip address on any computer.

    1) get a new modem

    2) get a router

    3) get a new network card

To address the 3rd answer. If you get a new modem (at least this is for comcast) the mac id on the modem is accosiated with a public ip address in the cmts and dhcp server. you have 2 ip address. 1 on the isp side and one on the modem side. when you get a new modem a new ip address is assigned in the system. I look at ip address all day when i provision (activate) them into the system. How To Change IP Address on a Mac?
