How to change IP of laptop in a home network?

I have made a connection between my desktop and laptop via wifi. The desktop is connected to internet.I have shared internet from my desktop for the laptop and it works fine. The problem is that after every two or three days I am blocked by the ISP because of the IP address of the laptop on the network which is very different from the IP address ISP assigns. Please tell me a way of changing IP address of my laptop. Thanks in advance.How to change IP of laptop in a home network?

Yea go to control panel, then open up network connections and then right click your connection that is connected to the internet, and click properties. Then under the Generals tab click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and hit Properties. Then check the Use the Following IP address box, and type in the IP you want.

It will hae to be within range of your routers DHCP though.. so for more home routers it will have to be an ip like 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.50

so any ip between that should work for a normal home router on default settings..

GL =)
You need to install a switch/router so your ISP will only see it's address and not know anything of your internal network.
Are you using a router? If not, you should be. Your ISP should be seeing one machine - the router

The router will take care of sharing the connection between your two computers
