How to change ip address (ipconfig doesn't work...)?

I need from time to time to change the IP address on my machine and I used to use ipconfig/iprelease (or something like that) but now (I have a widows xp machine) doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions? How to change ip address (ipconfig doesn't work...)?
Try Ipconfig/renew or Ipconfig/release. If those commands fail, be sure to check the length of the lease on your machine, if you are connected through a router, check your router's DHCP settings, however if your are connected to a network that has its own server or DHCP settings, you may not be able to change your IP address. How to change ip address (ipconfig doesn't work...)?
just go to connectoin properties and click on tcpip ...
ipconfig /renew

should do the trick as long as its a dynamic IP (such as one from your ISP). Note: There's a space after ipconfig :)

Also, ISPs usually change (or lease) IP addresses for only a specified amount of time, so it gets changed automatically no matter what.

Good luck
